A teacher since 2001, Amy Cortright has directed the NHS Chorus since coming to Norwell in 2006, where she also works full-time in the mathematics department teaching calculus and algebra. She previously directed the Duxbury High School Madrigal Singers and studied at McGill University with Montreal Symphony Chorus director Iwan Edwards.

John O’Briant joined the NHS faculty in 2006, where in addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the music department, he conducts the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, directs the Jazz Ensembles and teaches music theory and music history. Born and raised in Connecticut, he earned a B.A. in Music Education from Connecticut College, where he conducted the College Orchestra and Concert Band and studied conducting with New York Philharmonic staff conductor Michael Adelson. He also earned an M.A. in instrumental conducting from Radford University, where he conducted the University Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and chamber ensembles and studied with composer/conductor Mark Camphouse. He is an active member of the Southeastern District of the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association, serving in 2010-11 as the Manager of the Junior Festival Jazz Ensemble, and was recognized by the Plymouth County Education Association in 2009 for excellence and innovation in teaching. He also performs in the area on trumpet, most recently with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra and the Bridgewater State University Wind Ensemble.
