Supporting NHS Music
Just as the NHS Music program has made a commitment to enriching the artistic life of our community, the Norwell Public Schools have made a strong commitment to supporting its arts programs in return. But in these times of high energy costs, a sagging economy and ever-tightening budgets, finding the resources to provide artistic services and opportunities to our young people can still be a big challenge. If you would like to help support the growing arts community at NHS, there are many things you can do:
Work with us! The Norwell Scholastic Arts Society is an organization of parents and friends of the arts in Norwell who work to raise funds and create new opportunities for students in all of the visual and performing arts at Norwell High School–not just music but also theatre and the visual arts. If you would like to become involved even on a small level with this exciting new organization, please send us an email!
Attend performances! There are few things that affect students more positively than a large, enthusiastic, music-loving crowd. Please see our Calendar tab at the top of the page for month-by-month listings of our performances and events.
Advertise with us! If you’d like information on placing an advertisement for your business in NHS Arts playbills that are distributed at all NHS concerts, art exhibitions and theatrical performances, please contact the Norwell Scholastic Arts Society.
Give the gift of music! Our sheet music supplier, JW Pepper, has a feature on its website that allows teachers to put together lists of music and supplies that their programs need so that donors can purchase and donate them–sort of like a registry. If you’d like to donate a particular musical work or piece of equipment, you can browse our lists, purchase the item and then donate it to the NHS Music Department. We then mark the gift on their website as having been donated and add a note of thanks. All donations, as always, are tax-deductible with a donation letter. Here are the five lists we currently have (you’ll need to type in the name of the list verbatim to access it on Pepper’s website):
- NHS Music Department
- NHS Choral Music
- NHS Jazz Music
- NHS Chamber Music
- NHS Music Hardware
(The “NHS Music Department” list is actually the list for music for the Symphonic Band). Check it out, and if you have questions about how it operates, feel free to give us a call!
