Sibelius 4…On the Big Screen December 9, 2008

Sibelius, for the uninitiated, is the software that our students use when composing music using a computer. I knew it was the industry standard, but it’s easy to forget what that means. From Sibelius’ website, this article on the crew using Sibelius on the set of 2006’s Casino Royale:
Jill is used to working with Sibelius to hit tight deadlines. Over the past year Global Music Service have worked on many movie scores including Patrick Doyle’s Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and newly released Eragon, Jeff Danna’s Closing The Ring and a new David Arnold score for Hot Fuzz – just recorded – using Sibelius every time. “It’s like an extension of my arm! I can’t imagine working without it these days. In fact, if we did, I just don’t think we could meet studio deadlines.”
Pretty cool–thanks to support from groups like the PTO, we use the some of the same tools as the biggest film scoring companies in the business!

I’m very proud to announce, as a follow-up to the post below, that we’ve also had two students accepted to MMEA’s Southeastern District Junior Ensembles (for grades 6-9). They are:
- Daniel Allen ‘12, clarinet
- Frank White ‘12, tenor saxophone
Congratulations to both Dan and Frank, and many thanks and congratulations to all of those who worked their tails off and auditioned this past weekend in Marshfield!
