Congratulations to all of the students of the NHS Music Department on a successful and invigorating kickoff to our concert season! It’s always a joy to work with you and to see you really let it shine come the night of a performance. Thanks also to all of the parents who helped out in making the evening happen as smoothly and successfully as it did. Frank White and Evan Barger both put together recordings of the performance, of which we should have reference copies awfully soon. Hopefully you’ll soon see them in the digital recording library! Let’s do this again in…say, December?

Question: What was the greatest live performance (of any sort–music, theatre, dance, etc.) you’ve ever seen, whether in person or recorded? What, specifically, made it so memorable, exciting or meaningful to you?

So, apparently a hard-working young man with a little too much time on his hands has turned a 250,000 volt Tesla Coil into a fully functional (if scratchy and overdriven) guitar amplifier. You know what a Tesla coil is, right? One of these:

A few quick reminders for performing students:
- Friday, October 10 @ 6:15pm: Pep Band, home football game
- Monday, October 20 @ 7:00pm: Symphonic Band night rehearsal. Come early!
- Thursday, October 23: NHS Fall Concert! Call for Symphonic Band members is at 5:45pm. Call times for other ensembles will be announced soon.

10/23 Refreshments? October 6, 2008

Parents:
Quick reminder that we’re still looking for a few parents who might be interested in selling refreshments at intermission of the 10/23 concert. We need at least one person who would be willing to coordinate the effort, a couple of people to help out the night of the concert, and several more who might want to help out by providing the food and drink to be sold.
