Norwell High School Music Department

Coming soon from the NHS Music Department:

• April 3: Women’s Club of Norwell Fundraiser, at Indian Pond Country Club (Kingston, MA).  Tickets are $45, and selected members of the Jazz Workshop will be providing music for the cocktail hour preceding the Women’s Club’s annual Fashion Show.  For more info, visit the NWC on the web.
• April 10: “Preschool Jazz” at First Parish Preschool in Norwell.  Selected members of the Jazz Workshop make their annual visit to play music and have fun with the students of First Parish Preschool.
• April 18: Annual Young People’s Concerts, this year at the Vinal School in Norwell.  The Symphonic Band takes its show on the road to the Vinal School, where it will present to Vinal’s bright young people a program on “Telling Stories Through Music.”
• May 1: Spring Concert 2008, at 7pm in the NHS Auditorium.  The Chorus, Jazz Workshop and Symphonic Band close out their formal concert season and say farewell to their graduating seniors on Thursday, May 1 on campus at NHS.  The evening will feature works by Lasso, Mingus, Whitacre, Hanson and many more.  Admission is free of charge; donations will be accepted.
• May 26: Norwell’s Memorial Day Parade.  The Symphonic Band straps on its marching shoes and joins students from the Cole and Vinal schools in helping the Town of Norwell observe Memorial Day.  The parade begins at the corner of Lincoln and Main and ends at the green in Norwell Center, where the formal ceremonies commemorating this holiday will occur.

This portion of the year is always exciting, since it features some of our biggest opportunities to go off-campus and give back to the community.  We hope both to see you around the town and that you’ll come visit us on campus for our Spring Concert!
